I must be subconsciously be going for some ‘arts n’ crafts’ theme at the moment. Maybe it’s a sign I need to start sewing again? Maybe, I too, need to take up ‘crochetdermy’.

This is was UK-based artist Shauna Richardson does. She even came up with the term herself.

Crochetdermy. Taxidermy. Geddit?

She develops life-size animals through the process of crocheting. Her pieces are made with materials like coarse wools such as mohair mixes, glass eyes, reproduction claws… all that fun stuff you would usually have just lying around the house.

It takes her months to complete… but what a result. Some of you might find them completely tacky - but I love them.

Her website isn’t working right this second - but maybe try it out later: http://shaunarichardson.com/
